Questions
What is Tintiva?
Tintiva is a free color platform: a color encyclopedia with real computed data, a palette generator, gradients, combinations, contrast and accessibility tools, and developer-grade exports. No account is required for any tool.
How are the color values calculated?
Every value is computed deterministically in the browser from the sRGB color model: WCAG 2.1 relative luminance and contrast ratios, CIE LAB/D65, CIEDE2000 distances, OKLab/OKLCH (the modern CSS Color 4 space) and standard color-space conversion formulas. Nothing is estimated by hand.
Where do the color names come from?
Editorial records are written for Tintiva; standard names come from the W3C CSS Color Module Level 4 (148 names); extended names come from the public-domain xkcd color survey (CC0). Every name on the site is traceable to a source — we never invent color names.
Are my uploaded images stored?
No. The image color picker runs entirely in your browser. Images are never uploaded or stored anywhere.
What can I export?
Palettes export as CSS variables, SCSS, JSON, Tailwind config and W3C design tokens. Gradients export as CSS, SVG and PNG. Shade scales and design systems export Tailwind-ready ramps in OKLCH.
Is Tintiva really free?
Yes. Every tool is free, with no account, no ads and no watermark. Favorites are saved locally in your browser.
