Where do these color names come from?
Three sources, all traceable: editorial records written for Tintiva, the W3C CSS Color Module Level 4 standard names (148), and the public-domain xkcd color survey (CC0). Extended survey names are included only when they add a unique color that is not already covered.
How are duplicate colors avoided?
Every indexable color must be at least ΔE00 4 away from every other indexable color (CIEDE2000 perceptual distance), or carry its own independent search intent as a standard name. Near-duplicates stay searchable in the database without a separate page.
What can I do on a color page?
Copy every format, see the perceptual shade scale and OKLCH ramp, preview harmonies, check WCAG contrast against white and black, simulate color blindness, find the closest named colors, see photos-ready palettes and gradients, and hand the color off to any tool.
